Discovering Muskegon to Cross City

Have you heard of the Muskegon to traverse City Marathon? This is a marathon that is held annually in August in Muskegon, Michigan. It takes you on a journey all through downtown Muskegon and includes several other cities such as Marquette, Port Huron and Newaygo before it ends at Grand Haven, Michigan.

What better way to enjoy the beauty of the tri-state area than to run along the beautiful water of the river. If you are an avid runner, you have probably seen this particular river in some form or another. You may even be familiar with the channel that flows through the city of Muskegon. However, you won’t get to see it running this way in person unless you plan on running this race in Muskegon. Therefore, how do you run this scenic route while still being able to see part of the city of Muskegon?

Well, if you love the outdoors, there are actually a few options for this type of race. One of them is going for the half-marathon and the other is going for the marathon. Half-marathons start out at a moderate 2.9 miler and they can go on up to four miles. Marathons, however, start out at a nice two.2 miler and they can go on up to four miles. They also contain a dirt road and a wide, flat course through the city of Muskegon. However, it doesn’t matter which route you choose, because both of them offer their own special qualities.

If you are looking to experience a little urbanization while you are in Muskegon, there are actually a couple of routes you can take during your race. One starts out by traveling along the North shore of the city, past the Boatyard Park and through the Freeway to the edge of downtown.
