BTS have been inducted into the Guinness World Records Hall of Fame 2022 – and not a moment too soon – as the band has racked up 23 world record titles.

The K-pop superstars claimed their first Guinness World Record in 2018 after becoming the first K-pop act to reach number one in the US album chart with Love Yourself: Tear.

The titles have been coming thick and fast ever since, with BTS also setting world records for most streamed group act on Spotify, best-selling album in South Korea and most tickets sold for a livestreamed concert at over 756,000.

Five of their 23 records are for their single Butter, which was released in May 2021, proving this year has been one of their most successful yet.

BTS, which consists of Jungkook, Jimin, V, RM, J-Hope, Jin and Suga, also hold records for most viewed YouTube music video in 24 hours with over 108million views, and most followers on Instagram for a music group.

Guinness World Records said in a statement: ‘Over recent years, the group, who have been cementing their status as arguably the most iconic band in the world today, have gone from strength to strength with the global popularity of their music and their dedicated social media following earning them a multitude of Guinness World Records titles.’

The band have become known as a powerhouse of breaking records as well smashing new heights on social media platforms such as Twitter and TikTok.

On Twitter, BTS’s officials accounts have nabbed the most engagements based on average retweets for a music groups, and they have topped their own record four times thanks to their dedicated followers, known as the Army.

As well as BTS, other inductees to the Guinness World Records Hall of Fame 2022 include gymnast Simone Biles, climate change activist Greta Thunberg and The Simpsons TV programme.
